Very recently we were acknowledged by Google as one of the hottest early stage companies in the country. This came by way of taking second gong at this year’s Google Adopt a Start Up Grand Final. Amongst some really tough competition we might add! We are delighted, naturally, but more so it has made us even more determined to solve the problem we set out to solve. To make booking campsites around the world easier for everyone.

Over 100 companies from across the country applied for the programme. Thirty were chosen to take part. Eight made the final after a competitive pitch. The Grand Final pitches took place at Google’s European HQ in Dublin. We took second spot overall for the quality, clarity and ambition of our growth plan to 2020. Are we proud? Just a little bit!

Being part of this year’s cohort meant 12-weeks of intensive mentoring from Google’s finest on all aspects of digital excellence and growth, along with access to special workshops and lectures. It set up the start of 2017 nicely.

We got stuck straight in and took full advantage of the fantastic resources at Google’s European HQ. We analysed our numbers and growth approach in depth, and verified just how much potential lay in the Camping industry. We worked closely with our mentors Fatima, David and Stephanie, to achieve this. A very special thanks to all three, who were just brilliant. (The Milky Bars will be courtesy of Campsited, very soon!) They really helped us galvanise our thoughts on the growth opportunity that lies ahead.

Did you know that there are well over 2 billion searches annually, in the UK alone, for camping!! Yes 2 billion. That’s a lot of people interested in camping, and not enough services out there to support them. And that’s just the UK, across Europe it’s multiplied many times!

Over the 12 weeks we got to know some fantastic companies, and people - Bookapitch and Obeo were two of the Rising stars of the future we have no doubt - The energy of the programme was both uplifting and inspiring, with many nuggets of wisdom absorbed along the way. The value of which the simply cannot be quantified..

In our Grand Final pitch, using the knowledge gained throughout the programme, we clearly outlined our growth plan to 2020. It was bold and ambitious, but 100% achievable. The judges on the day liked what they saw, and Campsited were awarded second place to LogoGrab. Worthy winners.
