South Penquite Farm

Cornwall, Bodmin

More Photos

We are a two hundred acre family organic beef and sheep farm situated high on Bodmin Moor in the very heart of Cornwall. As well as being a demonstration farm for the Soil Association, we offer camping & yurts and provide opportunities for educational groups to learn about the local environment. There is much to see on the farm which became fully organic in 2001. Since then we have continued to adopt an environmentally sensitive approach including solar heated hot water and rainwater harvesting for the campsite showers, a small wind turbine and a run of solar PV panels on a barn roof.As well as running the cows and sheep, the farm is exceptionally rich in archaeological remains and wildlife. We also have many horses, ponies, chickens, geese, ducks and of course our faithful working collies without whose help we could not run the farm. You can keep up with whats happening down on the farm with our twitter updates & facebook page. Meanwhile please explore the farm using the menu on the left to navigate.

From the A30 (Bodmin) Heading East on the A30 out of Bodmin, ignore any signs to Blisland and take the second left signposted to St Breward. This takes you across a cattle grid onto the open moor. Follow this road without turning off (ignoring all turnings for either Blisland or St Breward) for approximately 3 miles and the South Penquite entrance land will come up on your right. From the A30 (Launceston) During the extensive road works on the A30 in 2015 your best route will be turn right for Camelford & North Cornwall (A395) shortly after you enter Cornwall. Drive through Camelford and take the B3266 to Bodmin. Look for signs to St Breward and then follow directions below. From the village of Blisland (Wadebridge) Drive along the top of the village green (leaving the pub on your left) and take the next left on the top corner of the green, which is not actually signposted to anywhere but will shortly pass the village hall. Follow this road for 2 miles; it will take you up onto the moor (over a cattlegrid) and South Penquite entrance lane will come up on your left (after another _ mile). From the village of St Breward (Camelford) Follow signs out of the village to Blisland. Once you are on the moor (over a cattlegrid) you will after a mile or so cross over a very pretty granite clapper bridge (Delphi Bridge) and on upwards to a T junction. Turn right towards Blisland and the South Penquite entrance lane will come up shortly on your right. Half way down the lane bear right and choose between the bridge or the ford and then the farm entrance gate will be before you ~ easy!
