Kingsmead Centre is a small family run site set in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.Just 15 minutes from the M5 motorway and Taunton in Somerset it is an excellent base to explore the area. The Blackdown Hills are an unique area abundant in flora and fauna. The campsite is 7.5 acres of unspoilt meadow and heathland with two purpose built fishing lakes exclusively for the use of guests at Kingsmead Centre. There is a good network of footpaths and bridleways in the immediate area and other purpose built trails within a few miles. The A.O.N.B. website has some excellent cycling, riding and walking maps and a wealth of information about the immediate area.Immediately surrounding the site is Forestry Commission land open to the public as well as meadow land belonging to us which is full of butterflies, british wildflowers such as cowslips, wild orchids and many other rare and unusual species. Bird watchers have a wealth of species to spot and donХt be surprised to find local roe deer wandering around the site and lakes. There are a number of specialist events and walks arranged throughout the year. Contact us for the latest details or check the A.O.N.B. website. As well as the beautiful environment we are also blessed with some excellent local pubs, restaurants and eateries. The nearest is the Merry Harriers which serves excellent local produce and has won the Good Pub Guide Devon dining pub of the year for the last two years running. They have a nice outside area, together with a great country pub restaurant. Booking is recommended.
