The Dorset Hideaway

Dorset, Bridport

The Dorset Hideaway is a small, luxury secluded Camping, Caravanning and Glamp site, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site Of West Dorset.

Only three miles from the main tourist route into the region, it offers unrivalled and uninterrupted views across unspoilt countryside and farmland with the highest hills in inland Dorset as a panoramic backdrop.

Guests can enjoy first class facilities in the new contemporary Amenity building "The Scrub" where there are separate male & female washing facilities with privacy cubicles and sockets for your own appliances, shaving/toothbrush sockets, music through speakers in the ceiling and underfloor heating. There is a dishwashing room & coin operated laundry. The building is super energy efficient with PV roof panels for electricity generation and solar thermal panels for water heating. There is also a separate disabled wash room with ramp access and extra wide door. There is a baby change unit on the wall.

Visitors say on arrival 'wow! I didn't expect that view when I was driving along the lanes'. People often comment on how peaceful the site is even when full and late at night. Guests seem to relish the chance to relax and unwind either gazing at the views from their pitch or huddled around an open fire pit gazing at the stars.

We are a safe family & couples friendly site. And for the family there is fishing in the well-stocked small recreational pond and our open ball area away from all the on site vehicles for everyones peace and safety. Plenty of walks right from the site entrance.

We have our on site Hideaway Spa & Beauty for all guests to use. Relax and unwind with a treatment in the SPA or hire the hot tub (May-Sept) for an hour's sole use.

Or why not book onto one of the art and craft courses held in our on site studio with resident artist Philippa Young.

We are off the beaten track, not near any noisy, busy or dangerous main roads but yet 10-15 minutes drive to Lyme Regis and Bridport. We are very approachable and friendly and have camped and caravanned as a family for over 20 years so we can help out with most problems when they arise.

We look forward to welcoming you on site in the near future.

From A35 east or west bound (if towing do not attempt to arrive from any other route – this is the shortest, flattest, easiest route, whatever the satnav says!) turn at the Art gallery and go downhill steadily to the crossroads with the pink house opposite, turn right at this junction (if approaching from the west and turning down Berne Lane then at this crossroads go straight ahead to continue to Gassons Lane turning). Continue for a short distance and then watch out for small single track turning on your left “Gassons Lane” opposite Berehayes. Continue along this lane for approximately 2 miles – DO NOT turn off, wait until you see the main pylon wires above you and as you go under them, slow down you are nearly here. The entrance is on a corner, set back from the road with clearly lit signs & a set of wooden double gates. Congratulations you have arrived – you can start to relax from here on…
