Black Rock Caravan & Camping Park
Highlands and Islands, Evanton
Welcome to the Black Rock Caravan Park. Situated in scenic Glen Glass and named after the nearby Black Rock Gorge, an 120 foot deep chasm carved out by the River Glass. The park is located in the village of Evanton, approximately one mile off the main A9 route north towards Tain, Wick, Thurso and John O' Groats. The City of Inverness is 15 miles to the south, with Dingwall (offering rail services north and west) 4 miles west. The village itself enjoys a regular bus service to all of these popular destinations. The park caters for static and touring caravans as well as offering facilities to campers and backpackers etc. Level pitches with 16 amp electrical hook-ups, water points, free hot showers, toilets, disabled facilities, laundrette with commercial machine and tumble drier, baby changing facilities, ice-pack freezer and chemical toilet waste disposal facilities are all part of what we offer to our visitors. There is a public telephone on site. The local shop is open seven days a week and the village pub is only 200 yards from the site and serves excellent food at realistic prices. In addition the pub holds regular music nights featuring local talent. Backpackers can make use of our 17 bed Bunkhouse, offering four rooms with four bunks and one single room. Bunkhouse residents can make use of the well fitted kitchen/dining area, showers, laundrette and TV. Black Rock is conveniently placed at the eastern end of the Trans-Scotland walk and is on the the edge of some of the most spectacular and unspoiled country in the Highlands. Step out of your caravan or tent at any time and enjoy the beautiful views surrounding the campsite. Spend an afternoon following the river up through Glen Glass to Loch Glass. We are only a short distance from the Cromarty Firth, home to a large colony of seals and they can be regularly seen sunning themselves on rocks close to the shoreline. Spectacular views of the Black Isle, Ben Wyvis and the Western Highlands are only short walks away. For those of you who wish to travel further afield similar areas of great natural beauty and historical interest can be easily reached making Black Rock a natural place to base yourself during your holiday.
