An ideal holiday location especially for families or groups keen to visit The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, or walk the Offa`s Dyke Path. The village has The Skirrid Mountain Inn, which is the oldest pub in Wales and was used as Judge Jeffrie`s Court. The scenery is superb with The Skirrid Mountain behind and The Black Mountains just beyond the village.

Penydre also has a small family run caravan park opposite the main farm buildings. Facilities on site include electric hook ups, hard pitches, shower and toilet block and wash up room. Camping on same site.

Travelling via South Wales & Newport: From the M4 Junctions 25A or 26 take the A4042 passing through Newport, Cwmbran & Pontypool. At the roundabout forming the junction of the A40 & A465, don`t come into Abergavenny but take the 3rd exit and stay in the left hand lane and head North along the A465 towards Hereford. After 1.5 miles you will see the junction for Skenfrith on your right and a little while after, Triley Mill on your left. After taking in the view of the Skirrid Mountain on your right you will pass the road for Pantygelli. Take the next left almost immediately after, signposted Llanvihangel Crucourney and Pen-y-Dre Farm is just before the garage on the left. Travelling from Mid / West Wales: Head for Brecon and the A40 travelling through Bwlch & Crickhowell. As you enter Abergavenny you will see Nevill Hall Hospital on your right and a little later a small roundabout. Keep straight ahead and follow the road around past the War Memorial & Tescos on your right, Cibi Walk shopping precinct again on your right, Bailey Park on your left until you come to the traffic lights. Turn left here and up the hill, through the village of Mardy and out of town. Passing under the railway bridge at Triley Mill join the A465 by turning left. After taking in the view of the Skirrid Mountain on your right you will pass the road for Pantygelli. Take the next left almost immediately after, signposted Llanvihangel Crucourney and Pen-y-Dre Farm is just before the garage on the left. Travelling via Chepstow / Both Severn Bridges: If using either Severn Bridges or travelling through Chepstow take the M4 as far as `The Coldra` turn off at Junction 24 then head up the A449 as far as Raglan where you join the A40. Follow this for 7 miles and at the roundabout forming the junction of the A4042 & A465, don`t come into Abergavenny but take the 4th exit and stay in the left hand lane heading North along the A465 towards Hereford. From Ross head for Monmouth where you should pass through some tunnels. 5 miles further on turn off for Raglan. Follow this for 7 miles and at the roundabout forming the junction of the A4042 & A465, don`t come into Abergavenny but take the 4th exit and stay in the left hand lane heading North along the A465 towards Hereford. After 7 miles you will come to a long straight road through the village of Pandy. As the road climbs a little take the next right passing The Skirrid Mountain Inn (don`t turn off to the right just before), passed the garage and Pen-y-Dre Farm is on your right.
