Comfortable camping pods at the base of Ireland’s highest mountain
For over 300 years Cronin's Yard has been used as the traditional starting point for ascents of Ireland’s highest mountain, Carrauntoohil, Cronin’s Yard offers a campsite with comfortable timber camping pods. Fully insulated and well-ventilated, the fully-equipped camping pods are perfect for the Kerry weather.
Situated at the entrance to the Hag’s Glen at Mealis in Beaufort, the campsite rests at the gateway to the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and provides the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding Irish countryside. Cronin’s Yard is also home to the memorials of the 1943 US Skytrain disaster at Cummeenapeasta Lake.
Cronin’s Yard offers two types of camping pods – standard pods with ample space for 2/3 adults and 2 children or family pods that can sleep up to 2-5 adults and 3 children. South-facing pods feature wooden decking areas for relaxing and alfresco dining and boast stunning morning views.
