Landes is in Southwestern France, on the Atlantic Coast, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
It has over 100km of wild Atlantic beach, including famous surf spots which surfers from all around the world come to experience, like Hossegor, Capbreton and the Gravière. While these breaks are for experienced surfers only, there are lots of more friendly beach breaks for beginners and intermediate surfers.
Landes is also characterised by huge forests of maritime pines, which cannot fail to help you feel calm, relaxed and at one with nature as soon as you walk into them. The Leyre River, for example, offers almost 90kms navigable by canoe, which you can rent from the activity centre at Mexico – which also offers lots of other family activities. And the Cazaux-Sanguinet and Biscarrosse-Parentis lakes offer safe sailing and swimming for families, with campsites all around their shores.
