Camping and waterparks: what to keep in mind

Why choose a campsite with a waterpark for your next holiday?

Rediscover your inner child

Our days are filled with such seriousness that we often forget to let go and reconnect with the happiness we had as kids. It’s guaranteed that campsites with water parks will remind you of what it’s like to let your hair down and get giddy!

Kids are entertained

Travelling with kids is a great experience, but it can be tiring trying to keep them engaged constantly and trying to find time for you to relax too. Water parks at campsites take care of that, giving you a lovely break, with the security of lifeguards watching over the kids while you sit back and relax.

Making memories

Camping has always been a great way to bond with the family. The great outdoors, the time spent away from busy day-to-day life, offer quiet moments with loved ones. These campsites offer you and your family a chance to do things you all enjoy and make long-lasting memories for everyone.

Improve your sleep

Enjoy the fresh air, take in more oxygen, tire yourself out on the waterslides, in the pools, exploring the local area. Spend your days relishing the open air and enjoying yourself and just see how well you sleep. Gain some insight about what helps you relax and feel better while camping, maybe you’ll take some new habits home with you to help you sleep as well when the holiday is over.

Socialising

Camping abroad often means meeting people you wouldn’t usually meet, especially for your kids. You’ll have the opportunity of socialising with an array of different people, maybe gain a different perspective or two, or simply enjoy the company of other people.

FAQs for the best possible camping experience

We’ve given you the how and we’ve given you the why, now we just have to answer a couple of questions and you’ll be on your way to a smashing holiday!

What should I pack?

If you’re going to be spending most of you time at the water park, pack goggles and spare togs and towels, as well as lots of waterproof sunblock. Remember that many French pools only allow tight swimming trunks for males – not shorts. Specific flip flops or shoes that are easy to get on and off for going to and from the waterpark might be a good idea, as well as the type of clothes that are easy to take on and off poolside. You’ll need water bottles, snacks, books and toys, to keep the little ones happy poolside all day long, so you can relax.

Are there lifeguards?

Yes, the majority of water parks in France will have lifeguards on duty.

Are shoes allowed on the slides or in the pool?

Generally, no, there won’t be any footwear allowed when swimming. There will be a place to leave them at the entrance to the pool area. If there is a specific reason for needing water footwear, you can contact the campsite beforehand and discuss this with them.

Do the campsites have electricity?

Yes, all campsites have access to electricity. If you’re staying in an on-site mobile home or lodge, you’ll have electricity. If you’re pitching a tent or parking a van, you’ll generally be able to choose between a camping area with or without power.

Is camping safe?

If you’re concerned about the safety of camping, you can put those fears to rest. All of these campsites are safe for the whole family. They’re in enclosed areas that are protected and come with none of the dangers you’d experience if you were wild camping.
